Essay

The thesis covers the results of Malagasy dictionary research made by the author: the role of statistical investigation of Indonesian, Swahili, Zulu, Shona, Malagasy and Ma'anyan languages according to the method of M. Swadesh for historical interpretation of Malagasy-Austronesian and Malagasy-African linguistic and cultural correspondences. In general vocabulary most of hits are exposed in two last languages. This contrasts with the hits of thematic vocabulary of Indonesian and Malagasy. An analysis concretizes the hypothesis of genealogical relationship between above mentioned languages bringing it into correlation with cultural facts. Performed for the first time, analysis of place names proves the hypothesis of settlement of Madagascar by Indonesians and creates a prospective field for further investigations. Moreover, during the research were found specific ethnolinguistic components of the Malagasy main vocabulary and presence of significant layers of the loanwords from Sanskrit, Arabic and Bantu language. The author also have found the regularities of linguistic changes between Malagasy and Indonesian, Malagasy and Maanyan. This inaugurates qualitatively new stage in comparative investigation of above mentioned problem.
