Essay

The analysis of the modern concepts of the historical memory of Ukrainians and of Slovenians: autochthonous, nation-based, neo-communist - has been investigated in this dissertation. The conditions of its activation during the post-totalitarian transitional period are highlighted. Its content, tools and technologies of the dissemination are characterized. Significant consideration to the structural functional analysis of the myths and ideologems that accompany the required concepts in rhetorical and discursive practices as an element of communication and symbolic interaction has been given. The projects of the official historical narrative and the alternative models of counter-memory which are inherent for Ukrainian and Slovenian societies during the formation of political nations have been showed. The technology of the mutual influence between the communist and the national discourses in the process of creating a synthetic memory space of Ukrainians and Slovenians has been researched. The mechanisms of the usage of the historical memory during the mental cartography of the past and its connection with actual geopolitical projects are underlined.
