Theoretical aspects of comprehending legal, lawful and unlawful behavior of the subjects of Ukrainian state border protection have been analysed; their general and specific features in the sphere of ensuring the inviolability of the state border have been determined. The definitions of the following key concepts and ideas that constitute the subject of the research have been given. Main directions and concrete measures of improving current legislation on preventing and combating deviation of state border protection subjects have been outlined.
