The content of conflict in the modern international system was investigated. The concept of "conflict potential" based on the comparative analysis of various theories of international relations analyzed. The ways of the theoretical and practical application of constructivist approaches to the study of conflict was highlighted. Investigated the mechanisms of the impact of conflict at different stages of development and international systems. The effectiveness of the use of the concept of "transit identity" in the study of conflict aspects of the evolution of international systems.
