Object: ranking of banking institutions in Ukraine. Objective: deepening of theoretical and methodical principles and developing of scientific and practical recommendations for improving the rating systems of assessing banking in Ukraine. Methods: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, logical, systematic, historical, statistical, comparison, spreadsheet, modeling, scientific abstraction, grouping. Results: improved definition of "rating system of assessment banking", theoretical principles ranking of banks by introducing two classification features of bank ratings, the feasibility of using and place of occurrence and periodization of ranking banks at the international and national levels, that making possible to identify trends and problems development of the banking ranking, methodical approach to evaluating the reliability of the rating of the bank, which, unlike the existing, along with four groups of quantitative indicators of reliability of the bank (financial stability, business activity, liquidity, effectiveness of administrating), includes four groups of quality indicators: corporate governance, management, customer base, level of bank development. Use: in the activity of the Standing Committee of Economic Policy, Entrepreneurship, Investment and External Relations of the Lviv City Council in the formation of economic policy concerning construction a favorable external environment of the investment component of the banking business at the regional level, JSC "Ukrainian Innovation Bank" in assessing the level of financial stability of Ukrinbank and banks-counterparties for developing strategy and tactics of the bank development, JSC Bank "L'VIV" in improving interbank methodology for assessing the financial position and efficiency of the banking activities, in the learning process of the Lviv National Ivan Franko University.
