Essay

Dissertation is devoted to investigation of relations between interleukins 33 and 1? serum levels, structural and functional remodeling of left ventricle and common carotid arteries in patients with essential hypertension and obesity. A significant prevalence of concentric left ventricular remodeling patterns and type I diastolic dysfunction was revealed in hypertensive patients with obesity, along with association of type II diastolic dysfunction with left ventricular hypertrophy. Common carotid arteries concentric hypertrophy prevalence was increased in patients with the 2-3 degree of obesity. The connection of arterial stiffness to age, male gender, systolic and pulse blood pressure, body mass, waist to hips ratio but not to body mass index was shown. A significant increase in both interleukins 33 and 1? serum levels was revealed in patients with hypertension vs control group, independently of body mass index. It was shown that interleukin-33 levels higher than 71 pg/ml with interleukin-1? less than 25 pg/ml was associated with higher prevalence of obesity and common carotid arteries remodeling but less pronounced dyslipidemia and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. Increase of interleukin-1? level higher than 20 pg/ml with interleukin-33 less than 71 pg/ml was associated with the severest impairment of systolic and diastolic function of left ventricle by tissue dopplerechocardiographical data but less pronounced common carotid arteries remodeling.
