Essay

The dissertation outlines a new integrated method of optimizing ships' cargo stowage and securing plans that allows for the inertial forces of rolling, pitching and heaving. The system of constraints in the proposed form of the optimization problem covers a wide range of conditions related to the seaworthiness of the ship, port rotation, properties of the cargo, and sailing conditions. The simulated stowage model uses 3D visualisation for arranging break bulk in cargo spaces. Author introduces a mathematical model to determine reaction forces in lashings, which accounts for dif-ferent conditions of rolling.
