The thesis deals with lexical and grammatical features of the language of the newspaper "Terdzhiman" in the functional aspect. The thesis implemented analysis of the language of the newspaper "Terdzhiman" made on the original Arabic-graphic sources for the first time in the Ukrainian linguistics. The key functional peculiarity of the language of the newspaper is multilinguism: interaction of the Turkic and Arab-Persian, Russian, Western European vocabularies interspersed with the dialects of the Crimean Tatar language. It is confirmed that the written Crimean Tatar language of the late XIX century had Oguz basis and was similar to the Ottoman Turkish language of that time. Replacement of the complex Arab-Persian lexemes and constructions with Turkic, and then with Russian equivalents made the language of the newspaper "Terdzhiman" close to the spoken Crimean Tatar language. Functional analysis showed productivity and frequency of nouns khane and name in formation of nominal phrases and compound words. Construction of lexical-semantic fields based on the functional characteristics of these lexemes allowed to disclose not only their semantic potential, but also derivational ties. As a result, systemic relations reflecting the dynamic processes within the lexical-semantic space of the newspaper "Terdzhiman" are identified. Analysis of authorly figurative means, ways of interpretation of lexemes revealed the pragmatic direction of the publisher to educate the readership of the newspaper. The appeal to collective linguistic experience, individual ways to use idiomatic fund of the Crimean Tatar language, calquing of set expressions of Russian, Turkish and the Western European languages to Crimean Tatar reveal deep intellectual potential of I. Gasprinsky as linguistic identity.
