Essay

Object is the city as an anthropological and socio-cultural phenomenon; goal is to make a conceptualization of cultural and anthropological status of the city in the context of social and cultural transformation and to define a set of factors that turned Kharkov into a modern city with a unique cultural status; methods are the anthropological reduction, cultural and anthropological interpretation, historical, comparative and contextual analysis; novelty consists of the systematic and complex analysis of cultural and anthropological status of the city in the context of socio-cultural transformations. This analysis was made due to the usage of interdisciplinary systematic syntheses. The analysis is based on the specified conceptual understanding of specific of the phenomenon and form of its manifestation in the context of urbanization and modernization of industrial and post-industrial model; results lay in the update of conceptual reasoning of cultural and anthropological status of the city in the context of social-cultural transformations that extends cognitive capabilities of philosophical anthropology, philosophy of culture in investigation of urban culture; it creates opportunities for future interdisciplinary synthesis; conclusions and suggestions can serve as a methodological basis for the development of evidence-based state policy, programs and projects of modernization of the Ukrainian cities; the materials can be used for the preparation of general and special courses; the field is philosophical anthropology, philosophy of culture
