Essay

Focus: publicness as a sociocultural phenomenon. Purpose: conceptualization of publicness as a sociocultural phenomenon and disclosure of the structural transformations of publicness in terms of cultural changes of contemporary society. Methods: theoretical generalization, deduction, expert interviews, participant observation, participatory visual methods. Theoretical and practical results: refined theoretical and methodological approaches to the sociological analysis of the phenomenon of publicness; disclosed sociocultural conditioning of publicness; developed and tested categorical apparatus of the publicness study; described the process of constructing and transforming urban public spaces inherent in contemporary Ukrainian society (for example, Kharkiv). The novelty: The developments of conceptual frameworks for exploring publicness as a sociocultural phenomenon and the disclosure of the manifestations of the structural transformation of publicness in terms of cultural change in contemporary society. Degree of implementation: The material presented in this paper is used in problem-oriented courses "Territorial Dimension of Contemporary Society", "Sociology of Globalization", "Sociology of the Soviet and post-Soviet", which are taught to students of the Faculty of Sociology V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University. Also, the main provisions of the dissertation used in the art gallery "AVEC", the structural unit of the International Charitable Foundation "Alexander Feldman Fund", in particular in policy relations with the public.
