Myronchuk O. Ranks of holiness names in the history of the religious style of the Ukrainian language.

The thesis is devoted to linguistic and historical, structural and semantic as well as to functional-style analysis of the ranks of holiness names. On the basis of established criteria, lexico-semantic group "ranks of holiness names" with distinction core and peripheral units was distinguished; the model of lexico-semantic group replenishment with new units was predicted and proposed; definition of the ranks of holiness names as well as their grammatical characteristics and peculiarities of their functioning in different sub-styles of the religious style were presented; the dynamics of the formation and development of the lexico-semantic group "ranks of holiness names" was retraced, types of synonymous relations of that names, their functional and stylistic load in religious texts - the use of epithets, amplification figure, structures of address, specifying role of separate sentence parts were researched; the basic types of abbreviations of ranks of holiness names, motivated by their derivative, numerical and generic characteristics were examined. Linguistic church and religious consciousness, presence of general services, separate genres of liturgical texts, devoted to the saints of particular rank, established lexical combinability of name of the saint with the rank of holiness name, as well as fixing the ranks of holiness names is special lexicographical sources were determinant in the correlation of a word with rank of holiness name.
