Essay

Object - the metabolism and structure of periodontal tissue in acute shortage of sex hormones; purpose - to establish patterns of metabolic changes in periodontal tissues and structures in the background removal gonads in animals of different sexes; methods - biochemical, morphological, spectrophotometric, fotoelectrokolorimetrical, mathematical, statistical; results - established pathogenetic role of deficiency of sex hormones in the development of degenerative processes in periodontal tissues; in experiments on mature male and female rats with gonadectomy, was found that sex hormone deficiency causes metabolic and structural abnormalities in the periodontal mucosa and bone of the upper and lower jaws, the nature of which does not depend from sex; determined that deficiency of the inorganic component of jaw bones is mainly due to the loss of calcium and phosphorus and is more significant in females with gonadectomy; the use of substitution therapy by sex hormones significantly reduces metabolic disturbances in the mucosa of periodontum, loss of macro-and micronutrients in the jaw bone, structural disruption of these tissues. The use of calcium supplements with vitamin D are ineffective in relation to periodontal mucosa, reduces deficiency of calcium and phosphorus in the bones of the jaw, does not affect the degree of structural defects in both periodontal tissues caused by deficiency of sex hormones. Correction of the found disorders with combination of sex hormone substitution therapy with calcium supplements and vitamin D has the best corrective influence on periodontal tissues, but is not sufficient to preserve the contents of calcium and phosphorus in the bones of the jaws in females with gonadectomy.
