The historico-legal peculiarities of the organization, activity as well as patterns of the formation and development of the prosecutor’s office of the USA are studied in the dissertation. The reasons and conditions of forming legal institutions of the prosecutor’s office in the USA are revealed; the influence of the models of prosecutor’s office of the European states on it is studied. The evolution of federal prosecutor’s office – U.S. Attorney General’s office, and federal district attorneys’ offices is researched. The systems of the prosecution in the states in terms of the history of their attorney general’s offices as well as local and municipal prosecutor’s offices are elucidated. The function of the representation of the state and community interests by the prosecutor in civil justice is researched. The criminal-procedural status of American prosecutors at all stages of the criminal proceedings is characterized.
