Ploshchyk M. Coffee market creation and functioning in Ukraine

The conceptual framework of the study, in particular, the interpretation of the market of particular goods within the national economy, has been summarized and clarified in the present dissertation; the main groups of participants of the chosen market have been defined and their economic interests have been identified, systematic methodological approaches for assessing the social efficiency of the measures of public regulation of markets with high dependence on import have been systematized. Approaches to the modeling of the influence of individual instruments of demand and proposition regulation (exchange rates, import duties, prices) to the domestic coffee market have been explained for determining the overall economic effect of its functioning. An analysis of the current coffee market state has been made, the main development trends have been defined and the estimation of coffee market conditions all over the world, in general, and in Ukraine, in particular, has been made; the key indicators of import of tea and coffee group have been compared. The importance of coffee among the most important consumer products has been established. Recommendations have been developed and conceptual directions of the domestic coffee market development have been proposed based on the import substitution of coffee production and taking into account the world experience. Prediction of the dynamics of coffee consumption in Ukraine has been made under its main segments till 2017; its results give reason to believe that the coffee market will continue to grow. Based on the proposed theoretical methods and on the basis of the developed scenarios of changes of the terms of trade, overall economic losses in consumption/production, changes in consumer/industrial surplus, changes in state revenues, the overall economic effect of the Ukrainian coffee market functioning have been modeled.
