Essay

The dissertational study focused on morphologic features of in vitro cultured human embryos regarding their chromosomal status. It was established that only 34,2 % of examined embryos were euploid according to 13, 16, 18, 21, 22 and sex chromosomes' number. The low effectiveness of genetically balanced embryos selection based on their morphologic characteristics on the second and third day of culture was demonstrated. The relative increase of chromosomally balanced samples in general cohort of embryos after their prolonged culture was established using the range system for embryo quality evaluation. There has been revealed a direct relation between the increase of mothers' age and the frequency of chromosomally unbalanced embryos formation. The results represented in this work can be used in clinical practice to increase the efficiency of infertility treatment.
