Paliy K. The system of motives in V. Bryusov's lyrics: semantics, dynamics, poetics

The thesis deals with the system of motives in Bryusov's lyrics during his writing activity. The leading motive and thematic complexes in Bryusov's lyrics have been defined in this paper ("Hellenism", "Ancient Rome", "decadence", "history and modernity", "city", "classics" and others), and within them semantics, functions, and dynamics of the writer's motives have been considered. The thesis analyses the relationship between the different motives in poet's lyrics, their genesis and transformation. The dominant features of symbolism and their implementation in Bryusov's system of motives have been determined. The thesis considers the organic combination of elements of symbolism and the elements of other modernistic (neo-romanticism, impressionism) and non-modernistic (realism, naturalism, parnasizm and others) movements and schools. The influence of motives on writer's genre, the structure of his works and his individual style has been researched in this paper. The author has determined V. Bryusov's contribution in the enrichment of the Silver age paradigms.
