Filyk O. Changes in hemostasis and their correction in children with sepsis

The presented study is dedicated to the current aspects of diagnostics and intensive care of hemostasis disorders in pediatric patients with sepsis. We have established changes in the hemostatic system based on the results of tests and intensive therapy in 144 patients with sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock. We found that sepsis in children is accompanied by the formation of disturbances in hemostasis and postcoagulation phase and in reducing antithrombin III level; in children with severe sepsis - in the phases of the formation of thrombin and fibrin, in postcoagulation phase, reducing antithrombin III levels and platelet count; in patients with septic shock - in all phases of coagulation hemostasis and reduction of antithrombin III level and platelet count. These changes in the hemostatic system correlate with levels of IL-6 and IL-2.
