Essay

The thesis deals with the development of scientific and technical bases of assessment of light sources and lighting settings' energy efficiency manufactured on their basis. It has been proved that the most reliable, comprehensive and scientifically sound evaluation method of energy efficiency of light sources regardless of physical principles of their functioning is the method based on the assessment of energy efficiency by the specific cost per unit of light energy produced by a light source within an average duration of its luminescence. That is caused by the fact that in estimating there has been taken into account the maximum possible number of available parameters (the cost of light sources and the minimum of start-control devices necessary for them, the power of light sources, luminous efficiency of a light sources set plus start-control devices and an average duration of glow) which influence energy efficiency in the greatest degree.
