Object of study: State ecological policy. The goal: a theoretical study of the role and functions of the state in the protection of the environment, and develop practical recommendations for improving the mechanism of formation and implementation of the state ecological policy of Ukraine. Methods: analysis and synthesis, systematic approach, comparative and statistical analysis, logical design and construction, historical, systematic and analytical, monitoring and theoretical generalization, abstract and logical. Results substantiating scientific and practical principles and conceptual approaches of improving the mechanism of formation and implementation of public ecological policies. Novelty: conceptual foundations of strategy formulation and implementation of national environmental policy ukraine with the peculiarities of integration processes; the theoretical and methodological approaches to the mechanism of improving formulation and implementation of national environmental policy based on state environmental monitoring; obtained the further development of categories-conceptual apparatus of the theory of the government which, unlike existing involves interpretation of the "mechanism of the formation and implementation of state environmental policy" and others. Introduced in the activities of the Department of Economics and International Relations of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, the Department of Environment, Energy Sector and Natural Resources Sumy Oblast State Administration and Chuguyiv District State Administration of Kharkiv region.
