Essay

The thesis presents an integrated lingvostylistic and poetic-cognitive approach to the study of hermetic texts of Paul Celan - the German speaking poet of the Jewish descent. Semantic and stylistic components of the language elements in poetic texts are analyzed on all levels of language. The data obtained proves that any language element can gain additional or different semantic meaning in a poetic text, non-haracteristic to its dictionary meaning. Celan's poetic ciphers, word play, authorisms are singled out and analyzed from the phono-graphic to the syntactic level. Celan's texts demonstrate all the features of hermetic poetry. Poetic-cognitive approach focuses on the extra linguistic expression of Paul Celan's poetry. The peculiarities of the author's world sensation in the form of the artistic (individual) concepts are analyzed. Implicitly Paul Celan's concepts MENSCH (PERSON), TOD (DEATH), GOTT (GOD), ZEIT (TIME) are based on his tragic Holocaust experience. Explicitly they are expressed verbally and analyzed according to the theory of verbal profiling of concepts.
