In the dissertation elucidated condition of an investigation of the scientific issues of responsibility in law. Were reinterpreted the genesis of formation and development of the responsibility in private law. Were formed the definitions of "institution of responsibility in private law", examined and improved the elements of its structural and functional characteristics, was revealed the interaction with other institutions of private law. Given the definition of "principles of the institution of responsibility in private law", examined their content characteristics and improved its list. Was investigated the content of categories of "mechanism of realization of responsibility in private law" and were made the analyze of its elements
