Internal and external factors that affect the efficiency of European integration in Ukraine have been identified and investigated. The risks and benefits of the geopolitical situation of Ukraine have been analyzed and the expediency of European foreign policy direction in the long term has been proved. The strategic principles of the integration process have been studied and the stages of development in relations between Ukraine and the EU have been offered. The influence of contradictions in inner European development on the process of European integration of Ukraine has been characterized.
