The thesis is devoted to the complex research of problems of responsibility of participants of civil legal relations, arising from the transportation of goods, passengers and luggage by rail, on the basis of systematic synthesis of existing national legislation, legal practice and foreign legislative experience. Concepts, grounds, conditions and peculiarities of responsibility of participants of civil legal relations, arising from transportation of goods, passengers and luggage by rail, are defined in the article. General description of contractual responsibility of participants of civil legal relations, arising from the transportation of goods, passengers and luggage by rail is given, grounds and conditions of such liability are defined. Features of responsibility of each participant of civil relations, arising from transportation of goods, passengers and luggage rail, under the legislation of Ukraine, are researched. Proposals are formulated for improvement of current legislation of Ukraine in the field of responsibility of participants of civil relations, arising from transportation of goods, passengers and luggage by rail.
