In the thesis the political myth is researched as a meaning of the election campaigns. Consider the theoretical and methodological basis of the study of the political myth, its source base, and scientific interpretation of the genesis of the myth. Analyzes features of creation the political myth as electoral tools specifics of its implementation during the elections, including the use of the myth as a means of the manipulating public opinion in the election campaigns. It is noted that the active use of the modern information networks is affect on the rapid consolidation of the political myth in the minds of the masses and also on the formation of a new political myths which is constructed under current social needs in various election campaigns. A high dynamic of the creation and dissemination of the political myth is underlying in the basis of the political manipulating opportunities of the political myth and allows you to implement to the scientific circulation such terms as "electoral political myth" and "national political myth." Investigate the genesis and evolution of political myth in Ukraine and propose the authorial periodization of the stages of its development. Emphasizes the importance of the common features of all stages which is the presence of the national component that was based on the archetypal ideas and images. The specific features are allowed to isolate the new types of the political myth, such as regional, personal, party.
