Essay

Thesis research is dedicated to study of psychological peculiarities of image and notional thinking interconnections among young school age children. A structural model of image and notional sphere of younger school children has been developed. Constituent parts of it are polymodal images, empiric and scientific notions of different aggregation level, image-notion and notion-image aggregations. We have grounded the main idea of the notion "image-notional sphere of a younger school child". The top of this system is presented by an aggregated image-notional knowledge as an integral and inseparable formation. We have determined physiological peculiarities of interconnections between image and notional thinking and demonstrated possible ways of transition from image to notion and its reverse process. During the research we have found an insufficient level of image and notional thinking development among students of 1-2 classes but strong connection between them. The psychological-pedagogical program for the optimization of image-notional sphere of young school students taking into account connections between image and notional thinking and individual peculiarities of activity/passivity of neural processeshas been developed. It's effectiveness was justified and checked. The recommendations, aimed to develop image-notional sphere among young school students, and to improve competencies of elementary school teachers regarding individual and age peculiarities of young school students' development have been formed.
