The object of the research - I. Vyrgan's creative writing, represented by his poetry collections, prose works and archived materials; the aim - to conduct a complex analysis of the ideological, artistic and aesthetic principles of I. Vyrgan's creative activity and to determine its role and place in the Ukrainian literary process in 30-60s of XX century; research methods - comparative, historical-cultural, structural, biographical, receptive, psychological; the scientific novelty - a profound analysis of I. Vyrgan's creative heritage in the context of Ukrainian literature in 30-60s of XX century is carried out; the writer's literary critical reception is analyzed; the features of aesthetic and philosophical category "man and world" in the structure of author's text conception are introduced; the specific nature of the main conflict, human choice and deed are depicted; the system of characters and dominant symbols are investigated in his creative writing; an attempt to determine the peculiarities of author's reality perception is made, outlining future scientific perspectives. The thesis contains archived materials from Kharkiv Literary Museum (unpublished texts, correspondence, personal letters, memoirs of the writer's contemporaries) that are still remained unrevealed; the results can be used in the course of history of Ukrainian literature, theory of literature, in designing special courses and seminars on Kharkiv region, as well as on the lessons of country study at secondary and higher educational institutions, in preparation for student's course works, diploma papers and master's degree works; scientific area - Philology.
