The thesis presents the results of the research of competence-oriented methods of teaching the subject of Law (Practical course) to the pupils of the ninth form. The thesis identifies basic approaches to teaching Law to secondary school pupils and the basic characteristics of the practical law course. It also identifies the main components, the levels and the indicators of legal subject matter competence, and investigates the methodical conditions of its formation in the ninth form pupils. The competence-oriented teaching methods of the practical course of Law to the ninth form pupils were developed and experimentally tested. The effectiveness of them was evaluated in their legal subject competence formation.
