Essay

In thesis criminal and legal aspects of forest conservation in the context of political and economic processes on the Ukrainian lands in a thousand-year retrospective are considered. It is shown that in the Old Russian state existence of considerable forests predetermined an orientation of security efforts not actually to the woods, and on the related crafts: hunting, collecting honey, preservation of trees, etc. In the Cossack-hetman state legal protection of the woods was regulated by hetman universals, but punishments for their violation had uncertain character.
