In research it is proved that professional development of the worker is a continuous and complex influence on him which is carried out by the employer during the organization of a vocational education for the purpose of acquisition by the worker new or improvement of the existing professional knowledge, skills which hi uses or will use in the professional activity. Functions of the worker professional development are historically caused and standardly displayed main directions of legal influence on the corresponding category of the public relations in which the legal nature of worker professional development becomes clear and thanks to which its mission in society and the state is realized. The educational, status, economic, innovative, pastoral and developing functions are the main in professional development of workers. The system of the legal regulation principles of the worker professional development covers: (a) association of interests of workers and employers; (b) equal rights and opportunities of workers; (c) availability of professional development; (d) variety of types and forms of a vocational education; (e) its continuity; (f) its voluntarity for workers; (g) association of the centralized and local regulation in professional development of the workers.
