Essay

This thesis is devoted to the development of scientific principles of effective process and equipment design in field of granular carbonaceous material high temperature processing. The mathematical model of granular material moving bed electrical heat treatment is presented. This model combines discrete and continuous concepts of granular media and takes into account joule heating, convective heat transfer within dense granular flow and chemical reaction heat source. Experimental and numerical investigations of anthracite and petroleum coke thermophysical properties and process of temperature treatment in industrial electrocalcinators are performed. Obtained data is used for validation and verification of developed mathematical model and shows good agreement between simulation and experiment. Numerical simulation is performed to find energy efficient technological parameters for heat treatment of anthracite and to design electrocalcinator for coke graphitization.
