Essay

In the dissertation theoretical and empirical analysis and the study of the psychological determinants of suicidal tendencies in individuals suffering from substance addiction in relation to sex, age, type of addiction and personality traits are performed. Suicidal behavior was considered as the result of interaction of two metafactors: "Environment" and "Personality" where "Environment" was represented mainly by qualitative and quantitative parameters of stressful life events, and "Personality" as predisposition and situation-conditioned individual psychological characteristics. Based on the results of mathematical modeling it was found that suicidal tendencies of the personality are partially determined by the accumulated negative life experiences, while early stressful life events to some extent predict the likelihood and nature of more recent stressful events. The differences between groups were described in relation to studied psychological factors, gender, type of addiction (alcohol and drugs), individual typological personality features, quality and quantity of stressful life events, suicidal thoughts and attempts. Protective factors that reduce the risk of suicide in people tendentsіy principal (the person of substance dependence) and control (persons without dependence) of its positive life events. Psychological program for prevention of suicidal tendencies in patients suffering from chemical dependency is proposed, developed and tested.
