Formation and development of S. Reformatsky's scientific and pedagogical views of the system of chemical higher education are analyzed in the thesis. Methods, forms and principles of teaching chemistry students in higher education institutions in scientific and pedagogical activities of S. Reformatsky are analyzed. Basic approaches to teaching Chemistry in higher education institutions of late XIX - early XX centuries are revealed and grounded.
