Essay

The object of study: interaction of new fluorescent probes with model membranes. Aim of work: elucidating the molecular detail of interaction between new fluorescent dyes and model lipid membranes. Methods: fluorescence spectroscopy, spectrophotometry, quantum-chemical methods. Scientific novelty: a broad characterization of the association of novel benzanthrone derivatives with the model lipid and protein-lipid membranes was given. Using several modifications of fluorescence spectroscopy, the new information about thermodynamical parameters of fluorophore binding with model membranes have been obtained, fluorescence lifetimes of the examined dyes in the model lipid membranes have been measured and the dye location in a lipid bilayer has been characterized. Practical meaning: application in molecular biophysics, molecular biology and combinatorial chemistry.
