Brazhuk Y. Metaphor of nature in medical terminology (based on the Latin anatomical terms)

Thesis is devoted to the analysis of metaphor of nature as a source of formation of Latin anatomical terminology. This research considers to the analysis of structural and semantic features of the Latin anatomical terms with metaphorical component of nature, statistical analysis of anatomical terms with metaphorical component. The thesis analyzed theories and functions of metaphor; it was also founded that the metaphor is a mean of highly productive nomination in the Latin anatomical terminology (35%). In the research it was established the basic sources and models of metaphorization, and was determined the base of the Latin anatomical terminology with metaphoric component (here were represented six kinds of metaphor: fitomorphic, zoomorphic, anthropomorphic, landscape metaphor, astronomical , anthropogenic).
