In the study, the influence of pulse electromagnetic fields with frequency of 1-100 Hz and 25 µT on gastric smooth muscles of rats and physiological processes in them were investigated. It was shown that electromagnetic fields in the frequency-dependence manner change an intracellular calcium concentration in smooth muscle cells. An electromagnetic field with frequency of 8 Hz inhibits the increase of intracellular calcium and activates nitric oxide-synthesis induced by KCl-depolarization. Also an electromagnetic field with frequency of 8 Hz inhibits phasic contraction of smooth muscle induced by KCl-depolarization, whereas 50 Hz increases phasic and tonic contraction. Thus these comparative studies show sensitivity of smooth muscles and smooth muscle cells to some frequencies of electromagnetic field.
