Essay

The work is based on the diagnosis and treatment results of 211 patients (37 with normal- and hypomastia; 58 with primary ptosis; 116 with recurrent postoperative breast ptosis) and on the results of mesh-fascial duplication experimental study in 24 experimental animals (rabbits). The posterior Scarpa's fascia leaf in young women without breast ptosis has histological and morphological heterogeneity due to different thickness of collagen fibers and different location densities. Postlactation and recurrent postoperative breast ptosis correlates with morphological and histological Scarpa's fascia parameters. Duplication of superficial fascia with prolene mesh in rabbits doesn't change its morpho-histological characteristics and provides mechanical strength. Mesh-fascial duplication for recurrent breast ptosis surgery doesn't cause clinically significant local and general reactions, provides significantly lower recurrent breast ptosis three-years rate (10,9 %) and its degree compared to traditional re-surgery methods (30,8 %) and, consequently, results in significantly lower frequency of unsatisfactory results (3,1 % vs. 15,4 %).
