Essay

The results of investigating epizootology, clinical signs, diagnostics, treatment, and prevention of mallophagoses of hens in the conditions of the central region of Ukraine have been presented and generalized in the dissertation. The spreading, species composition, seasonal and age dynamics, and peculiarities of ectoparasites' morphological structure in hens, suffering from mallophagoses have been studied. It has been found that mallophagoses of hens on the territory of the given region are provoked by causal agents Menopon gallinae, Menacanthus stramineus, Menacanthus cornutus, and Goniocotes hologaster. Morphological and bio-chemical blood indices have been studied, clinical picture and changes in productivity of hens suffering from mallophagoses have been presented. The improved method of making morphological preparations in toto to study causal agents of Mallophaga line has been created and proposed; it enables to investigate more accurately and in detail not only chitinous parts of ectoparasites' body, but also their internal organs (digestive, respiratory, and genital systems). Ukrainian and foreign insectoacaricides have been tested on hens infested with mallophagoses causal agents. High effectiveness of Brovermectin-granulate to fight malophgoses has been found. De-invasive effectiveness of disinfection "Bi-Des" agent has been studied in vitro and on hens suffering from spontaneous mallophagosis.
