Essay

Research object was remodeling of rats' spongy and compact bones after induced hypothermia. The aim was to elucidate the features of bone tissue remodeling for the rats of various ages after induced hypothermia on the base of combined studies. Research methods were morphological, morphometric, electron microscopy, cytological, fluorescent, densitometric, statistical processing ones. For the first time in a model of mild hypothermia induced by cold effect in the rats of different ages, and based on the results of studying the structural and metabolic characteristics of the femur tissues there has been found the disorder of its remodeling with a predominant resorption over bone formation. For the first time there were determined the morphometric parameters of bone remodeling after hypothermia in the animals 6 and 24 months' age and osteopenic bone manifestations were found. New findings on ultrastructural organization of bone tissue cells, negative impact of hypothermia on biosynthetic activity of osteoblasts were obtained. There was extended the knowledge about the death of cells in hypothermia conditions and there was demonstrated that hypothermia led to the death of bone tissue both by apoptosis and necrosis. For the first time it has been found that hypothermia negatively affects the bone mineral density.
