Object of research: the modern economic system as a network of business communities. Research objective: based on the study of development and functioning of network communities of the electronic space to justify their transformation to an institution of modern economic system and identify areas of their regulation to ensure sustainable economic development. Research methods: method of scientific abstraction, methods of analysis and synthesis, functional analysis, logical-historical method, predictive and expertise methods. Results, novelty: for the first time the role of network communities of the electronic space in the development of constitutive norms of the market in the context of globalization has been proved and the content of transformation network communities of the electronic space to economic institutions has been revealed; there has been improved theoretical interpretation of globalization by reflecting it as a condition and a result of development of network communities of the electronic space and their hierarchies as institutions of the economic system, which allowed to identify the stages of their development, based on the changing role of structural components and evolution of the rules, as well as the characteristics of the possible and necessary scenarios of the response to the risks of network communities of the electronic space by supplementing options at the mega level with relevant administration at the macro level; there has been received further development of definition of network communities of the electronic space, periodization of the post-industrial stage of economic development based on changing the place of network communities of the electronic space from complementary to equal and dominant forms of economic relations, as well as the classification of risks of economic systems through its complementing with risk, produced by functioning of network communities of the electronic space.
