The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of theoretical and methodological bases of formation and functioning of share capital in terms of market transformations and to the definition of its opportunities of growth as well as to the development of practical recommendations for the corporate governance improvement. The research includes the evolution of scientific views on the concept and nature of share capital and offers the author's approach to determination of the essence of share capital in broad and narrow senses. The structure and the principles of functioning of share capital were disclosed and its role in developed and transition economies was defined. The impact of privatization processes and institutional market reforms on the formation of share capital was analyzed. The peculiarities of functioning of joint-stock companies in the global financial and economic crisis were detected, and the contradictions of the formation of share capital in the conditions of market transformations were identified. The directions of improvement of the mechanism of formation and development share capital were determined in the research. The conceptual bases of optimal interaction of production and distribution functions as well as of economic and social components of realization of share capital were reasoned. The innovative and post-industrial strategies of the development of corporations and of of share capital reproduction were defined.
