The thesis under analysis is devoted to the problems of research and protection of the right of the natural person to acquaintance with personal papers which are transferred to fund of libraries or archives. The analysis of the right of the inviolability of private papers and its coordination with the rights of other persons to conduct research is given. Research of legal significance of actions in the non-property sphere, directed on access to the personal information, necessary for creation or the publication of new achievements of scientific thought, works of art and literature is made. The classification criteria of personal papers in the context of a correlation of public interest in obtaining the information and the rights and interests of the person whose private circles are under the threat in a result of disclosure of certain data is presented.
