On the basis of achievements of Ukrainian and international legal theory and practice the dissertation provided a research of theoretical groundings of the term "legal interpretation", the essence of international treaties, their legal nature and place in the national legal system of Ukraine and in international law; generalized the practice of the interpretation of international treaties by national courts of European states and the USA, Constitutional Court of Ukraine and general courts; proposed a methodology of the interpretation of international treaties by national courts of Ukraine.
