Essay

The object of study - the phenomenon of commercial sex, sexually transmitted infections. The purpose of research - improving the efficiency of diagnosis, treatment and control of the spread of sexually transmitted infections among female sex workers. Methods: clinical methods; questionnaires; epidemiological analysis; immunodiagnostic methods; polymerase chain reaction; biochemical and microbiological methods; light and fluorescent microscopy; statistics. The thesis deals with the problem of STIs control among female commercial sex workers (FSWs) on the basis of clinical, epidemiological and socio-psychological characteristics of these FSWs and their clients: HIV positivity was identified in 27 %, syphilis - in 18 %, gonorrhoea - in 3 %, trichomoniasis - in 30 %, chlamydia - in 25 %, ureaplasmosis - in 26 %, bacterial vaginosis - in 42 % Violence during sex services, depression, problems with alcohol, were associated with a higher risk of STIs. Clients of female sex workers are infected with STIs in 38 %. The general population pall revealed that 36 % of respondents consider prostitution as evil; 40 % - expressed a tolerant attitude; 24 % - could not decide. New methods of STIs treatment and complex interagency organizational measures for the control of STIs among those women were proposed to interrupt the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukraine. Results of the study are introduced into the practice of MI "Poltava Regional Clinical Skin and Venerological Dispensary", MI "Zaporizhzhia Regional Skin and Venerological Clinical Dispensary", MIHC "Regional Clinical Skin and Venerological Dispensary №1" (Kharkiv), as well as in the educational process in the department of dermatology and HIV/AIDS of Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and the Department of Dermatology and Venereology of the Odessa National Medical University.
