Object - the "Shulamith" story by A.Kuprin; biblical books: "Song of Solomon", "The Third Book of Kings", "The Book of Ecclesiastes", the Gospel, oriental legends about king Solomon, the works of the French and Russian literature of the second half of XIX - early XX century. Objective - reveal of context, pretext and intertext of the Shulamith short story by A. Kuprin. Methods - intertextual and intermedial, hermeneutic and comparative-historical. In the process of studying the specifics of the Shulamith story's intertextual field it was determined that this artwork is a literary neo-myth which combines several types of transtextual relations, typical for the Silver Age literature: paratextual, metatextual and intertextual. It was proved that the Shulamith story is an integral part of the complex interactions of literary transitional period. In a harmonious transtextual continuum of the story transformed biblical, ancient, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Hindu and Islamic intertextemes coexist and emphasize the uniqueness of the creative method and variety of cultural codes in the writer's works.
