Thesis is devoted to research of civil jurisdiction and cognizance in their correlation. Based on the analysis and synthesis of opinions existing in legal literature, and regulations of applicable procedural law, an approach to jurisdiction and cognizance was formed as to the legal categories which characterize from different angles the relationship between a competent court and legal issues within its competence.
