Vasylenko T. Forming of the English Lexical Competence in Translation of Future Philologists on the Basis of Translation of Op-ed Articles

The thesis deals with the formation of the English lexical competence in translation of future philologists on the basis of op-ed articles. The methodology of forming students’ English lexical competence in translation has been substantiated theoretically and elaborated practically. The content and the structure of the English lexical competence in translation have been studied, its components have been singled out and described thoroughly, its formation principles have been provided, translators’ lexical difficulties and op-ed articles have been analysed. The principles of studying material selection and the criteria of English op-ed articles selection have been given; the system of exercises and the model of teaching students the English lexical competence in translation on the basis of op-ed articles within the discipline “The Practical Course of Translation” have been worked out. The experimental teaching has been conducted to prove the suggested methodology validity, its optimal variant has been substantiated.
