Essay

The scientific thesis includes systemic and conceptual analysis of the development of the future doctors' competencies in Medical Deontology on the interpersonal level in view of the expectations and requirements for modern medicine. It substantiates the model and specially designed teaching techniques promoting the formation of the defined competencies during the undergraduate period of medical training. The author has performed the comprehensive content analysis of the available national and foreign scientific literature in terms of the development of the future doctors' competencies in Medical Deontology on the interpersonal level. The dissertation highlights the professional and interpersonal skills the medical graduates should acquire at the medical universities to successfully pass the National Licensing and Certification Exams in Ukraine, Great Britain and the USA. The thesis defines the role of the deontological training in the system of medical professionalism. The author investigates the actual organization of the deontological training in the undergraduate medical education of Ukraine. The scientific paper determines the complex of system forming subject competencies in Medical Deontology, and describes criteria, determinants and methods aimed at finding out the level of their development. The scientific thesis proves educational effectiveness of the constructed model and introduced teaching techniques for the development of the future doctors' competencies in Medical Deontology on the interpersonal level. The designed techniques include specially arranged Cooperative Learning Structures and planned direction of the "hidden curriculum" in accordance with the recommendations stipulated by the author.
