Essay

The dissertation focuses on the influence of uniaxial pressures on the refractive indices and optical birefringence of K2SO4 crystals. It is revealed that the changes in the refractive indices occurring under the influence of uniaxial pressures are primarily due to changes in the oscillator parameters originating from the changing band gap Eg, long-wavelength shift of the band-maximum UV absorption and the density of the effective oscillators.
