This thesis offers a comprehensive study of the features of legislative and regulatory framework of electoral systems in European Union member states and Ukraine. The thesis provides a detailed overview of political and legal factors influencing the formation and functioning of an electoral system. These factors include: political (type of political regime), domestic (national suffrage law) and international (international legal acts). The key aspects of the election organization procedure in European Union member states regulated by national constitutions and special election laws were highlighted. A comparative legal analysis of the main suffrage provisions in European Union member states and Ukraine was made. The main differences between suffrage provisions in European Union member states used during elections to the European Parliament were studied.
