Essay

The object of the research is national art of riding hall. An original explication of the notion «circus school» was offered for the first time in the discourse of Ukrainian art studies; the sources and organizational basis of the genesis and evolution of Kharkiv school of circus art were defined within a broad historical and cultural context; socio-cultural determinants of progressive advance were outlined. The study has identified, reconstructed and analyzed the factography and chronology of evolution of circus art in Kharkiv. Field – Ukrainian culture, art criticism.
